Losing weight by working with the corporate Health Coach
The opportunity to schedule private sessions with a health coach is becoming more available to corporate employees as clients look for confidential wellness strategies which address their personal pace, preferences, and priorities. It remains an underused resource if individuals find themselves busy with multiple commitments, not yet ready to make a change, unable to envision the possibility of change, or have failed in previous attempts to adopt new habits.
Client E’s encounter with coaching came at an opportune moment for her. Having already lost 5 pounds, having already experimented with several different kinds of exercise programs, being interested in setting a good example for her kids, and being curious to learn all set the stage for making the most of her coaching series with me. She looked at the small things she could do in her every day rather than being daunted by the large task ahead: losing 50 lbs. by the end of 2015.
Her success was largely due to her interest to learn what worked for her while being open to trying new things. Her exercise program had to be tailored to her body type, her snacks had to be revised several times, she tried smoothies with her kids and new recipes with her husband, designed a vacation strategy, and researched ideas to make healthy substitutions in every meal of the day. Instead of trying to adapt to a diet, she went forth with the positive attitude that her program was not going to be about suffering, pain and lack, rather about discovery, learning, and setting a good example.
